LAURA SIMS

Dickens

Nothing

new here—

Folly, Words, Wigs, Rags, Sheepskin, Plunder, Precedent,

I seemed to have crossed a dark lake

Or ring

Or starry circle of some kind

Across which

Numbers

Actually mean

To be part of the dreadful thing

He began the world

(Now close the reverberating door)

Folly, Plunder, Precedent,
