* UPDATE * Saturday's reading will be at 6PM in the Pavilion (between the parking lot and the lake). Click HERE for a map of the campground.

* UPDATE * Campsites and other accommodations are going fast, folks. There's a bluegrass festival a town away. Get your campsites, cabins, or motel rooms (see below) before they're filled with fiddles and banjos.

Campsites may be reserved through the Reserve America main page or by trying the following link, the Taconic State Park - Copake Falls Area Reservations Page. You will have a choice of campsites with or without raised campsite platforms. Folks who would like to be guaranteed a flat surface on which to sleep may wish to reserve platform sites. Otherwise, you may maximize your camp space by choosing to forgo the platform. Both platform and standard campsites run about $16 per night. Reserve America charges $9 for a reservation.

Cabins are available on a 1st-come/1st-serve basis, for around $85/night, unless you plan to book a full week's rental (around $350). They sleep somewhere from 4-6 people—so if you plan to split the cost, then a week's rental is not such a bad idea. When last we spoke, Melissa, the very cordial young Park Manager, said that there were only a handful of cabins available for the weekend 0f the 16th-17th -- but no one can be sure they will remain available.

Motels, hotels, and B&Bs are scarce, but some are still available. The Southern Berkshires Chamber of Commerce offers links to accommodations in Great Barrington, MA, and Lakeville, CT (both towns are only 15 miles from the campground). If you're willing to drive 20 lovely miles from the campground, you can get cheap rates at the Willows Motel in Amenia, NY (845-373-8090).
